[Another pause, a soft realization.]

I guess I felt you were- are too good for me. You're too good, Detective. Too much of a good thing. There had to be some reason why you'd change your mind.

But - [Said as he lifted a hand to stop her from interrupting, if she was going to.] - I trust you also know yourself and your own mind well enough to know what you want. How you feel. I may want to stop trying so hard to convince you otherwise. Especially as I'm rather fond of the idea of you liking me.

[She listened to everything he had to say, waiting for him to finish before she spoke.]

I was resistant because at first it seemed like all you cared about was getting into my pants. I didn't like all the over-the-top bravado or you forcing yourself on my cases, but you showed me that you were more than just some guy with an entitlement complex. You helped me solve Delilah's case when everyone else just wanted to put it to bed. Same with the Palmetto case. No one's ever been on my side before like that.

For all your flaws and mistakes, I got to know you better, and I liked what I saw. I still do.

I have flaws?

[He tried so hard to make it seem like he believed that confusion, puppy look melting into a smile as he shook his head.]

You needed someone on your side. That it was only me for so long is rather a bit of an annoyance. I don't understand how anyone in your department can work with you and not find you as competent, reliable, steadfast, and true as you are. You wonder why I was so disdainful of your office when we first met. Your treatment in your own department is exactly why. They can't see a good thing when they have it.

Bloody incompetent morons.

[He may or may not notice, but during his little tirade against her department on her behalf, a smile touches her lips. And only grows bigger the more he speaks.

So at the tail-end of that, she finds herself leaning further into his space. Similar to how she did on that beach, just before she kissed him.]

And here you are wondering why I like you so much.

[Oh, he most certainly noticed the lean in, that little flutter twisting away in his stomach as anticipation built. He felt himself catching his breath, letting it out slowly as he smiled, his hand going back to her waist as he smiled down at her.]

Because I'm not idiotic enough not to notice an incredible and lovely woman when she's right in front of me?

[Something like a giggle escaped her against her will, her smile lingering on her face as her arms moved to wrap around him, hands resting against his back.]

Get down here.

[And there she went, leaning further into him even as she tugged him towards her, lips trying to capture his.]

[He didn't need to be asked -- or told, twice. Both his arms circled around her, hands sliding along her lower back as he bent his neck to let his head reach more towards her level, lips finding hers with an unerring accuracy. All the little quips he might want to toss out when involved with someone in this manner just... drifted away, leaving him there with his arms around her and his mouth pressing eagerly against hers.]

[The kiss wasn't particularly overwhelming or sexual, though gone was the chaste nature of their one from a few days ago. It was easy to fall into his touch; his arms, his hands, his lips, all wrapped around her as she pressed against him, her own arms clinging to him as her hands roamed over his back in exploration.]

[There was a quiet sound, muffled against her lips as he let out a soft groan. He did love being touched by her, and with his scars newly healed, it seemed his body was more sensitive in some places than others. Even through his suit, he felt the press of her hands and responded by pulling her in more closely against him.

Chaste was out the window, as more prurient thoughts started to filter through, all fed by the taste of her and the feel of that warm solidness pressed against him.]

[It was an unconscious gesture, borne out of a need and desire to touch him. To ground herself as he pressed more tightly against her. Her head tilted back and to the side when he made that muffled little noise, changing the angle of their kiss as her back slowly pressed into the wall of the roof.

And even then, she felt her hands tightening around him, fingers clasping around his suit right between his shoulder blades to drag him in further. She made a soft sound of her own, his name slipping through on a quiet exhale. Lucifer.]

[He shuddered when he heard what sounded a lot like his name leaving her with that muffled tone of need and desire, pulling his mouth from hers with a gasp, but not stepping any further away from her. Not when she was warm and soft and clinging to him in ways that had him reacting rather... viscerally.]

Chloe... I should... ah. Stop. Now. Here. On the roof, what with, ah, flying... things. And... outside-- bloody hell, you're gorgeous.

[Even as he spoke of stopping, his hands slid up her back, one staying near the small of it to keep her body right where it was, pressing tightly to his as his reacted to her.]

Oh. Okay. Okay.

[Panted against him as she leaned back a bit, just enough so that they each had the space to breathe. She swiped her tongue over reddened and swollen lips, body tingling from where they were pressed so intimately together. And it didn't help that she could feel how he reacted to her.]

You alright?

Very.

[Said with something close to a growl before he lowered his forehead to rest on hers.]

Just... very tempted not to stop. Very, very tempted.

[She let him, doing the same back to him until they were just standing there together quietly under the stars.

Her hand drifted up along his back, just touching for the sake of touching.]

You don't have to stop if you don't want to.

My thing, yes. And yet here you are, stealing it.

[He didn't sound all that put out about it. If anything, he sounded more than happy to be there. She kept touching him and her fingers traced over a sensitive spot that had him moving his hands down to her ass to lift her up, pressing her back against the wall she was against. And still, he kept himself from closing that distance between their lips, clinging to that last bit of control.]

I didn't take you for the exhibitionist type, Chloe.

[Except she didn't really sound sorry much, if at all. And then she was being lifted and pinned to the wall, feeling the cool air of the Riverview wind brushing through her hair and against her back as he leaned her against the view of the city below. She wasn't worried, though, trusting him to hold her, especially when him gripping her and hauling her up allowed her to hook her legs around his waist to keep herself steady.]

We don't have to keep going.

I want to.

[He felt her legs around his waist, his hand sliding up to cup the back of her neck to keep her safely pressed to him and he felt a rush as he realized how much trust she was putting in him at that moment.]

I just... ah. Don't want you to regret... anything.

[Including possibly being caught while doing terribly naughty things on the roof of the building they shared with who knows how many people.]

I know my own mind, remember?

[She was a grown woman and knew what she was getting herself into, after all. Though she appreciated him and the care he was putting into this. Into her.]

I'm not doing anything I don't want to. But I'm not in any rush, either. I'm okay with just this.

[For now, anyway.]

Just this? What, trying to see if you can get the Devil to mess his pants? Now you're just being mean.

[Smiling as he said it, he let his nose brush lightly alongside hers, breathing in that scent he could pick out of a crowded room.]

I have needs, Chloe, and you're... well. You're more tempting than I think you realize.

No!

[She laughed at him and gave his back a gentle swat, grinning against him even as he brushed his nose against her.]

I'm just not used to you being so tentative. I'm alright, though, Lucifer. Really.

Full disclosure?

[One hand slid down to rest just along her ass, the other still holding her up near her shoulders as he looked at her.]

It was rather easy to be so forward when I was so sure you'd say no. I may have wanted you to say yes, but I had a feeling you wouldn't. It became a game. Trying to get you to change your mind. And then... you did. And now I--

[He sighed softly, stealing a quick kiss.]

I want everything to be perfect. I'm... you're important to me.

You're important to me too.

[Something simmered quietly underneath that easy statement, something unsaid, but she decided to let it go for now. And all this talk was slowly bringing her wits back about her.]

Maybe... we should go inside.

Inside...

[Right. Yes. Inside. Where they were less likely to be seen. Slowly and regretfully, he moved to set her back on her feet carefully, hands not leaving her as he slid them down, then up along her as he stood still where he was.]

Yes. I suppose that's best. Lovely view out here and all, but I'm, ah, a little distracted.

[As evidenced by what was still pressing against her.]

I can see that. And feel it.

[She let out a breathy little laugh against him, a shiver running down her spine at the feel of his hands gliding over her. She pulled away from him as well, though she was limited by the wall directly behind her, her hands sliding down and away from his body to tug his hand away from her.

Carefully, she intwined their fingers together, motioning over towards the rooftop door.]

C'mon.

[She mentioned it, but she didn't seem too put off by it, and that had him smiling brightly. It was curbed by a pout when she moved his hand, holding his in hers and moving that little bit away from him, but she wasn't leaving him. Just... moving them inside. As they should. With a soft little groan, he used his free hand to adjust himself a bit, tugging his coat down in a futile attempt to cover himself.]

I truly hope we don't run into anyone inside. I'm told my... charm is worse when I'm riled up. Which I certainly am. Not complaining, though.
