[She's seen him naked so many times by now that his near-nudity doesn't bother her at all. When he blinks up at her, hair strewn and speaking with a low voice from sleep, she gazes at him with her own tired little smile. She reaches up to stroke her thumb along his arm when he tugs at her.]

Sorry for waking you. I-- [She stops and tries again, gesturing.] Can I slip in with you for tonight?

Always. My bed is your bed, love.

[He moved to shift over a bit, not that he needed to given the size of the bed, but it was symbolic in its own way, patting beside him even as he reached for her.]

Never be sorry. Any reason you feel like cuddling?

[She quickly disposed of her shoes and pants before she slipped in next to him, sighing a bit in satisfaction as the warmth from the bed and his body heat enveloped her. She moves until she's curled right up against his side, laying her head on the pillow and already feeling that safe kind of comfort washing over her.

His question draws out a small acknowledging 'mmm' from her. She hasn't talked much about this whole deity thing with him, or the fact that she's been feeling... well, she doesn't know what she's been feeling. A presence? A spark?]

Honestly, I'm not having the greatest night sleep-wise. Thought it might help.

[He watched her get half undressed, lifting the sheet and spreading it out so it covered both their lower halves, arm moving easily to tuck her in against him as she slid in to where he felt she belonged. Right there. Right in that Chloe-shaped space that was like it was made for her. He kissed the top of her head and hummed.]

Would you like me to wear you out first? Or is this more a... just wanting not to be alone thing?

[If she needed him to wake up enough to please her until she was exhausted, he was willing to make that sacrifice.]

[That got a soft, tired chuckle out of her, one arm moving to wrap around his front. While she appreciated such a generous offer, she wasn't in the mood for those kind of activities currently.]

The second one. And a you thing.

[There's no one else she'd feel comfortable enough about this. And right now she's far too tired to really consider the implications of that and how easily it was to show up at Lux in the middle of the night; besides, it just felt natural.

She tilts her head up to look at him, voice quiet.]

Have you been hearing all this talk about a god recently?

[Smiling, he tucked the sheet around her, nuzzling against her hair as they settled in together. This? This was something he could get used to. The smell of her quietly surrounding them while they drifted off to sleep...

But she was still talking, so he felt obliged to concentrate enough to answer.]

Apparently, there's loads of gods here. Found one in my hot tub the other night. Why?

[Normally she would be more inclined to respond to his comment about the hot tub, but she's off-kilter tonight, a little lost in her thoughts as she lays with him.]

There's been a few rumors going around recently about something waking up. Some people are saying it's a god and that all the new arrivals are the cause of it. Normally I wouldn't put much stock in rumors without something concrete, but... I've been feeling... weird lately.

There are a plethora of 'gods' here, love. They all seem rather mortal to me when compared to my Father. I can't say I'm all that worried about a new one rising. But... define 'weird', mm? Is something the matter beyond gossip?

It's different. It's not like Thor or Loki. It's like...

[She gestures over her body in a creeping gesture, as if trying to convey spiders or some other creepy-crawly walking over her.]

I've been getting this strange feeling lately. Like I'm being watched. Or something's trying to pull me in a certain direction. I've been seeing things, too.

[The notion of something messing with her had him lifting his head to look down at her, hands smoothing over her as if he could cut off any imaginary or invisible ties to her.]

Something's ogling you and pulling at you? Well, here I was thinking that was my job. But, if you're concerned, I suppose I could go nose about tomorrow and see what there is to find out about this... 'god'.

Yeah. I don't know if it'll actually pan out into anything, but something's just off. I can feel it in my gut. There's a group that's going out beyond the wall soon to go look into it. I mentioned something I'd seen to one of my roommates and he's all gung-ho about it.

Yes, I'm sure he is.

[He rolled his eyes, then settled back on the bed, tucking her closer.]

Not that I don't think you're competent in the city, love, but... I'm not certain that beyond the wall is the best idea. Not that I'm not all for adventure and fun and whatnot, but... it's a bit like dropping off a mallbaby in Saigon.

I'm not planning on going with them. Not on this outing, anyhow. But, you know, I've been getting this feeling that something's just going to go wrong somehow. I keep seeing this temple. Sometimes I'm dreaming and sometimes I'm not.

I don't know. You know I'm not usually the type to go out on some wild goose chase or believe something unless I have reason to,but if they actually go out and find this thing... kind of hard to ignore, don't you think?

Not really. It's likely been here long before we showed up, and it may well be here long after we leave. That's rather the nature of immortal beings, love. If that even is what this is.

Perhaps you need to spend less time around gossips if it's affecting your dreams. I'd much rather you have visions of sugarplums, or my sugarplums, in your head.

So you think I'm imagining the whole thing?

[She supposes it's... possible, but not very likely. Not now that she knows that the Devil and demons and angels and Hell and magic portals all really exist.]

Well, don't you? How often do you have dreams of weird portent? You were partners with me for quite a while and you lived with a demon. Anything crop up in your dreams then?

[Because really, Chloe. People didn't just magically wake up with magical magic.]

[Or did they?]

Nothing like this, no. But it's not just in my dreams, either.

[Don't make him question everything, Chloe. Gosh.]

Oh? Alright, then. I'll bite.

I already told you. It's like... an image or flash. I'll be sitting at work or walking home and I just see things. Sometimes it's that temple or just the woods. Or people. And coupled with everything else, it's just really starting to freak me out.

So you're saying that you've somehow managed to wake some powers of, what, prognostication? Here?

[He was quiet for a moment, thinking to himself. He didn't want to call her a liar, because he believed that she saw what she thought she was seeing. It just didn't make sense to him how that would happen.]

You think it has anything to do with the portal?

I don't know what it is. I don't know if what I'm seeing is real or something some creature is making me see to try and entice me out there, but it's like I've got this string tied around me and something's trying to pull me by it. Now that I know all of... these things actually exist, it's hard to think I'm just losing it.

[Or maybe she is. Who knows. Either way, she's obviously a little more distressed about this than she initially told herself she was.]

No idea. But I've heard more and more people have been brought in lately. I was asking around and someone mentioned something being woken up by all the new arrivals. Prayers or energy or whatever.

Are you praying to someone other than me?

[Said with a bit of tongue in cheek, even as he pet his hand over her hair. It disturbed him to think that something was trying to manipulate her, something he'd tried so hard to avoid doing himself -- to the point of removing himself from her life for a time.]

Don't just hie off into the woods. If... if you find yourself drawn out against your will or you can't fight whatever it is that's... making you feel this way, tell me.

This isn't funny, Lucifer.

[She settles a little when he pets at her, though, head lowering back down onto the pillow when he finally seems to be taking it a bit more seriously.]

I don't think it's that strong, or like I'm going to tear off anytime soon. And I wouldn't just leave without you. But... I don't know. Depending on what they find out there, maybe...

[She trails off, because she knows it's a bad idea. She knows. And yet.]

Maybe what? Do you plan on starting to worship something? The proverbial atheist who sleeps with the Devil suddenly bowing to some unnamed potential deity in the woods?

[Flatly.] No. But if it's pulling other people out there, or trying to, then that's a problem.
